U.S. researchers have said who eat large amounts of red meat and processed meats have a higher risk of infection for many types of cancer, including lung cancer and cancer of the colon and rectum.
This is the first large study showing a link between meat and lung cancer. They also show that those who eat large amounts of meat have a higher risk of getting cancer of the liver, esophagus and men increase their risk of pancreatic cancer by eating red meat.
Wrote Dr. Amanda and colleagues at the U.S. National Institute of cancer in their report published in the "journal Public Library of Science" medical, saying "any reduction in the consumption of red and processed meat may lead to reduce the likelihood of cancer at multiple locations."
The researchers studied 500 thousand people aged between 50 and 71 years participated in the diet study conducted in conjunction with the "American Association of Retired Persons." After eight years of diagnosed cases of cancer, of them 53 396.
The researchers wrote, saying, "Statistics show an increase in risk (ranging between 20 and 60 per cent) of the injured esophagus cancers, colon, rectum, liver, and lung cancer, through a comparison between the top people ate red meat and least addressed it."
Faces the top five people ate the meat processed increased 20 per cent for cancer of the colon and rectum - mostly rectal cancer - and a higher risk by 16 per cent of lung cancer.
The researchers wrote, saying, "Moreover, associated with intake of red meat higher risk of getting cancer of the esophagus and liver."
These differences continued to exist even when taking into account the factor of smoking.
The researchers added that the amount of red meat is linked to cancers of the stomach or bladder or leukemia (leukemia) and cancer of the lymph nodes and skin cancer melanoma.
